SUNY Ulster Veterinary Technology – Assistant Professor Full Time; 10-Month; Starting August 2024 Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Priority Screening: May 27, 2024 at 4PM EST Position : Full-time appointment for Assistant Professor of Veterinary Science beginning Fall semester 2024. This position reports to the Department Chair of Veterinary Technology and the Veterinary Technology Program Coordinator. The candidate will be responsible to teach a broad range of veterinary science courses offered in the program. The faculty member may be required to teach day or evening courses and computer skills are required. Post-graduate or post professional certifications and training preferred. Responsibilities : Use and develop a variety of effective teaching and assessment methods to engage student interest and address a variety of learning styles. Teach a minimum of fifteen credits per semester. Integrate appropriate instructional technology into the classroom to enhance student learning. Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to the course content and learning outcomes. Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, enrollment reports). Assess student learning and develop plans to improve student learning based on student outcomes. Maintain four office hours per week Involvement in curriculum development; course assessment and development of online classes Advisor to veterinary technology club Participate in student advisement Actively participate on college committees Perform various departmental duties throughout the semester. Salary: An initial starting salary of $53,400 - $66,900 will be commensurate with education, training, and experience per academic year with an excellent benefits package has been allocated for this position. This position is contingent upon adequate funding. Job Requirements : The candidate must be a New York State Licensed Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician, with a minimum of five years of experience in diverse clinical practice. Veterinarian must be a licensed DVM or VMD, Licensed Veterinary Technician must have a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology or related discipline. Prior teaching experience and Brightspace training preferred. License must be current and active in New York State. And Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.
