Position Title: Little Saints Teacher Position Classification: Part-time, 10-month, Program Support, salaried exempt Hours: General hours of this position include working approximately 4-5 hours per day (between 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m), Monday-Friday during the academic year. Reports to : Director of Extended Day & Little Saints and Little Saints Program Coordinator Position Summary: St. Christopher's School, the largest all-boys school in Virginia and one of the largest and oldest boys' schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, seeks a creative and experienced teacher for its Little Saints Program. St. Christopher's School serves approximately 1,000 boys in Grades JK-12 in Richmond, Virginia and is committed to cultivating a school community that is diverse, inclusive, and welcoming and prides itself on bringing out the best in every boy. Little Saints is a coed child care program that serves St. Christopher's and St. Catherine's faculty and staff children, ages 2-4 years. The goals of the program are to maintain a safe and nurturing environment, provide an opportunity for each child to develop positive relationships with their peers, and promote each child's growth in independence, self expression, and self discipline. The Little Saints Team respects each child as a unique and valued individual. Principal Responsibilities: Work with the Little Saints Program Coordinator to provide a safe, loving, and caring environment Engage and play with children while also monitoring their safety and well-being Collaborate with Little Saints teammates to create and implement developmentally-appropriate lesson plans and activities that nurture children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs Maintain an attractive, well-kept learning environment that encourages children to create, explore, and make decisions with confidence Attend to children's daily needs including, but not limited to, toilet training, diaper changes, feeding assistance, and overall hygiene Manage student behavior in accordance with the philosophy of the program Work with the Program Coordinator to foster a respectful partnership with parents/guardians through professional, timely, and effective communication about the program, the schedule and conducting parent conferences, assisting with student progress, and addressing behavioral or educational concerns Observe all rules and regulations of the local, state, or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children Attend staff meetings and trainings Assist in other capacities as required by the Program Coordinator and/or Director Work with the Little Saints Program Coordinator to ensure the center is adequately stocked with necessary supplies and equipment Qualifications and Key Skills: Commitment to St. Christopher's mission, policies, and initiatives Commitment to best practices in education, as articulated in the School's Teaching Excellence Document , and a dedication to best practices for boys, as espoused by the St. Christopher's Center for the Study of Boys Commitment to diversity, community, and inclusion in school communities, as expressed in the St. Christopher's Diversity and Inclusion Statement Bachelor's degree or certification in early childhood education is preferred Experience working with young children in an early childhood setting Patient, nurturing, and kind, with a deep appreciation and passion for working with children ages 2-4 Positive team-oriented attitude and flexibility to collaborate with others in a variety of circumstances Creative, flexible thinker who is curious about best practices in early education Energetic, professional, hard-working, and models integrity at all times Detail-oriented multitasker who possesses strong time-management and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Comfort with using technology daily and a willingness to learn and navigate specific platforms Ability to become CPR, First Aid and MAT certified Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended periods of time Frequent sitting on the floor to play and engage with children Occasionally required to work in poor weather conditions such as temperature, precipitation, and wind during recess Ability to lift children between the ages of 2-4 Effective October 22, 2021, School policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
